Reaction roles

Publish a message where members choose roles using emoji reactions.

Create a role group

  1. Open Reaction roles from your server dashboard. Review the feature switches and any premium requirement shown by the editor.
  2. Create a group with a name, description, colour and destination channel. Add each role and its Unicode emoji or server custom-emoji ID.
  3. Optionally require an existing role or a minimum number of membership days. Choose whether members may remove each role and whether the group allows only one role at a time.
  4. Save the group, then use its message tools to publish the Discord message. Check the result in Discord with a normal member account.

Update, move or remove the message

Saving a group and publishing its message are separate steps. Use the message tools to update the post after changing roles or text. You can also import an existing reaction-role message by its Discord message link; it must belong to Aymeric in this server.

Moving the post creates the replacement before removing the old message. Deleting just the message keeps the saved group. When deleting the group, review the separate choice about whether its Discord message should also be removed.

If a result is uncertain, follow the recovery instructions shown on the group instead of repeatedly publishing. Check that Aymeric still has access to the channel and permission to manage reactions and roles.

Common questions

Can members choose their own roles?
Yes: offer choices on a message with reaction roles, or add role actions to a saved custom command. Review any eligibility settings and avoid making privileged roles self-assignable.
