Link and verify your FFXIV character on Discord

Connect your FFXIV character to Discord with Aymeric, verify ownership through the Lodestone, and troubleshoot missing codes or character roles.

How do I link my character to Discord?

Use /xiv iam in a server with Aymeric to save your character, then /xiv verify to prove ownership with a code on the Lodestone. Some servers start verification during saving. Your saved character works in every server: character lookups can find you by your Discord account, and market commands use your world and data centre.

In servers that use them, saving is also what gives you character roles, such as a verified-member or Free Company role, and can set your nickname to your character’s name.

Save your character

  1. In a server with Aymeric, use /xiv iam. Choose your world, then type your character’s first and last name exactly as they appear in game.
  2. If Aymeric can’t find you by name, use /xiv iamid instead. Your Lodestone ID is the number at the end of your character’s Lodestone address: in na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/character/12345678/ it’s 12345678.
  3. Check that Aymeric’s reply shows the right character. If the server requires verification, the reply starts verification instead: follow the steps below, and the save finishes once your code is found.
  4. Try /xiv profile user to see your character card.

Verify your character

Verifying proves the character is yours, by putting a short code on its Lodestone profile, which only its owner can edit. Some servers require it before giving roles, and once a character is verified to you, nobody else can save it.

  1. Use /xiv verify. Aymeric replies with a code starting seraymeric-verify- and a link to your character’s Lodestone page. The code works for an hour.
  2. Sign in to the Lodestone and open your character. Check that Character Profile Page visibility is set to Public: “Logged-in Users” or “Private” hides your profile from Aymeric.
  3. Edit your character profile text, paste the whole code on a line of its own, and save.
  4. Wait at least two minutes before checking. The Lodestone’s pages are cached for up to 60 seconds, and changes can take a little longer to appear, so a check straight after saving still sees your old profile.
  5. Back in Discord, press Check My Code on Aymeric’s message. If it says Try Again, wait a minute and press it again.
  6. Once it succeeds, you can remove the code from your profile.

Someone else has claimed your character

If Aymeric says Character Already Claimed, the character is verified to another Discord account, perhaps an old one of yours.

Whoever can edit the character’s Lodestone profile can release it. Use /xiv unverify with the character’s Lodestone ID, and put the seraymeric-unverify- code it gives you on the profile, in the same way as verifying. Then save and verify the character from the account you use now.

Common questions

Aymeric can’t find my code. What should I check?
Check that the Character Profile Page is Public; that the whole code, including seraymeric-verify-, is saved on its own line in your profile text; that you edited the character Aymeric linked to; and that it’s been at least two minutes since you saved. Checking straight after saving often fails, because the Lodestone keeps a copy of each page for up to 60 seconds: wait and press Check My Code again. Codes last an hour: if yours is older, run /xiv verify for a new one.
My code expired. What now?
Run /xiv verify again, or /xiv iam in a server that requires verification, and use the new code and its button. Buttons on older messages no longer work.
I verified, but I didn’t get my server role.
Servers give roles when you save your character there, not when you verify. Run /xiv iam for the same character in that server again. If the role still doesn’t appear, ask an admin to check Aymeric’s role settings.
Do I have to save my character in every server?
Your saved character works everywhere. But a server only gives you its roles and nickname when you save in that server, so run /xiv iam once in each server that uses character roles.
I changed my name or moved to another world.
Run /xiv iam with your new name and world, or /xiv iamid, which doesn’t depend on either. Roles for your old world or Free Company aren’t removed automatically, so ask an admin if they need to go.
Why can’t Aymeric find my character by name?
The name has to match exactly, on the right world. New characters and recent name changes can take a while to appear in the Lodestone’s search. Use /xiv iamid with your Lodestone ID instead.
