Using commands
Find a command by typing part of its name, fill in its options with autocomplete, and know when to use “user” or “search”.
Find a command
Every Aymeric command starts with /. Type / and part of any word in the command’s name, and Discord lists the matches as you type: “sum” finds /xiv market summary and /xiv collection summary. Pick the one that says Ser Aymeric.
On a computer, move through the list with the up and down arrow keys and press Tab to complete the highlighted command. On a phone, tap it.
Fill in the options
Once you’ve picked a command, Discord shows its options. You have to fill in the required ones before you can send it. Optional ones can be left empty: Aymeric then uses a sensible default, usually your saved character.
For items, worlds, zones and other game data, start typing and pick one of the suggestions rather than typing the whole name. Suggestions come from the game’s own data, so picking one avoids spelling mistakes.
“User” or “search”?
Most character commands come in two versions. The user version shows a Discord member’s saved character: leave the member empty for your own, or choose a friend. The search version finds any character by world and name, saved or not. So /xiv profile user is quickest for you and your friends, and /xiv profile search works for anyone.
You can also right-click a member (long-press on a phone), choose Apps, then Profile, Portrait or Equipment to see their saved character without typing anything.
Can’t find a command?
Check that Aymeric is in the server and that you’re allowed to use application commands in that channel. Server admins can limit which channels and roles can use them, so ask an admin if a command doesn’t appear.
If a command runs but its reply never arrives, Aymeric may not be able to post in that channel: it needs to send messages, embed links and attach files there. An external service such as the Lodestone may also be down for a while.
